Advanced technology for high voltage power links
Our objective is to develop new materials for high voltage cables and accessories (joints, terminations, etc.) and to characterize them by means of conventional or less conventional methods in order to ensure that they can meet short term and long term requirements for the final products.
New materials
To help prepare improved formulations and optimize their processing, we use equipment and processes comparable to those used in manufacturing (internal mixers, roll mills, extruders, twin screw extruders, injection moulding press, compression moulding press. All insulating materials for the high voltage domain are prepared in clean rooms.
Characteristics testing
New materials have to be characterized according to standardized tests. Some of these new materials are non-linear in the sense that their properties depend on electrical field and temperature or they vary with the waveform of the applied electrical stress.
One of our main R & D projects are materials for HV DC application. In that case, most electrical properties are governed by space charges, which are characterized by advanced methods (potential decay, mirror method, etc.).
