New Communication Cables

Send link to this page Your Nexans contact on this page
The development of communication cables covers the whole areas of conduction-bound Telecommunications and data transmission over copper conductors or optical fibers (OF). These cables are used for the telecommunications infrastructure, data transmission networks (LAN, SAN, MAN, WAN) und for the wiring and interconnection of communication equipment.

Notable development areas

  • Special application communication cables (medical and measuring technology, aeronautical and aerospace technoligy, military application)
  • Optical testing and sensor cables in particular for the oil and gas industry.
  • Equipment wiring and interconnection (high-speed copper and OF).
  • Data transmission networks (copper and OF cables, interconnection components). Cables using single-mode, multi-mode or plastic optical fibers.
  • Underground cables and components for Telecommunications industry, Railways, Water and Power supply companies, with improved copper performance (xDSL), reduction factor (Railways), or special application cables (e.g. indoor-outdoor cables).
  • OF Submarine cables with or without repeaters.
  • Network accessories, components, test devices etc.

Communication Technology fields

  • High-speed copper cables and components
  • Single mode, multimode and plastic optical fibers, and associated components
  • OF cables in tight buffer, loose tubes, microtubes, ribbons and steel tubes design.
  • Applications for underground, terrestrial and aerial installation.
  • The development effort is efficiently conducted through two Competence Centers for the Data Transmission Networks, located in Belgium and in the United States of America, and a Competence Network of eight Nexans units located in European countries.
