Germany’s Nexans Group generated sales at current metal prices of 809.8 million euros in 2010. This represents a year-on-year increase of 26.2% resulting from the stimulation of business. The proportion of export sales in 2010 is 62.0%. This high export quota can mainly be attributed to the Business Units Industry and Bare Conductors.
The DEL price for copper was 54.3% above the previous year’s value (372.73 euros per 100 kg), with an average value of 575.04 euros per 100 kg. The average aluminium price was 197.32 euros per 100 kg and therefore 28.06% higher than last year’s.

The number of employees in the group rose from 5,977 at the end of 2009 to 7,255 at the end of 2010. The increase mainly results from the economic recovery in the Automotive business that lead to a reconstruction of capacity at Autoelectric´s subsidiaries abroad. After the closing down of Vacha plant in September 2009 the number of employees in Germany continues to fall. There were 1021 employees working in the non-consolidated companies as of 31 December 2010 (994 employees as of 31 December 2009).
