Besides the development of superconducting materials the development of superconducting systems becomes more and more important. Such systems include thermal and electrical insulation and the cooling system.
Due to our experience in cryogenic technologies combined with the know how of the development and production of high voltage cables we are in the position to offer complete systems for superconducting devices.
A consortium consisting of American Superconductor, Air Liquide, LIPA (Long Island Power Authority) and Nexans produced and installed the world wide first superconducting cable (600 m) in an existing grid.
We are able to bring the know-how of the production and integration of the cryogenic envelope.
Even in the past we delivered the cryogenic envelope for superconducting cables (NKT 1999, National Institute for Fusion Science, Japan 1998, Superconducting RF-Cable 1998, Superconducting energy cable with warm dielectricum 2003).
