Trenching the world’s longest power cable

Project description

• Protecting the power connection between Norway and the Netherlands.

Project challenges

• The high voltage connection of 630 km in length was to be trenched to between 1-3 meters, to protect it from trawler activity and migrating sandwaves.  
   

Nexans' solution: In 2006 and 2007 the connection was successfully trenched and buried.  This also involved dredging and deburial of cable lengths for jointing.
