Compact cold-shrink straight joint for medium-voltage cables with cross-sections up to 240 mm²

Three-layer extruded EDPM cable joint delivered largely preinstalled - simple handling during installation

Hof, March 23, 2011 – The 24CSJ-S cold-shrink cable joint from Nexans Power Accessories Germany GmbH, Hof, Germany, serves for the connection of VPE-insulated medium-voltage cables with welded or removable exterior conducting layers.

The new cable joint can be installed in the ground, in cable ducts as well as outdoors and complies with the CENELEC HD 629.1 standard. It allows for the connection of cables with different cross-sections: cross-sections between 95 mm² and 240 mm² in the case of 10 kV cables, and cross-sections between 50 mm² and 240 mm² in the case of 20 kV cables. The cable joint has a three-layer extruded EPDM design as well as integrated shield bonding. Onsite handling has been extensively simplified due to the fact that the majority of the components are delivered preinstalled.
