MOTIONLINE® CAT7 cable for the highest bending loads – Nexans enables high-speed Ethernet in drag chains
Nexans Deutschland at SPS IPC Drives 2015 in Nuremberg, 24–26 November 2015, hall 5, booth 130
Hanover (Germany), September 22, 2015 – The new MOTIONLINE® CAT7 Ethernet cable from Nexans copes with the industry's highest data transmission demands by making the performance of 10 Gigabit Ethernet available for demanding drag chain operations. The cable can be used at temperatures of up to 80°C and is oil- and chemical-resistant, halogen-free and flame-resistant, and – importantly for use in drag chains – highly abrasion-proof. With a maximum signal frequency of 600 megahertz, it is perfect for applications such as the connection of high-resolution, high-speed cameras for process monitoring and quality assurance.
The CAT7 cable suitable for drag chains enables a minimum bending radius from the twelvefold of its diameter. Despite its high degree of flexibility, it allows secure, trouble-free data transmission across millions of bending cycles thanks to an elaborate shield. The high-performance variant for at least five million bending cycles (at the minimum bending radius) has an overall braided shield made of copper and a braided and foil shield around each wire pair. For lower mechanical loads, users can also select a more cost-effective model without a braided shield around the individual wire pairs; the continuous load here is at least two million bending cycles at the same bending radius.
Both MOTIONLINE® CAT7 drag chain cable variants have been tested at the Nexans Motion Application Centre. They are RoHS-compliant (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and certified to UL (Underwriters Laboratories) and CSA (Canadian Standards Association).
Nexans brings energy to life through an extensive range of cables and cabling solutions that deliver increased performance for our customers worldwide. Nexans’ teams are committed to a partnership approach that supports customers in four main business areas: Power transmission and distribution (submarine and land), Energy resources (Oil & Gas, Mining and Renewables), Transportation (Road, Rail, Air, Sea) and Building (Commercial, Residential and Data Centers). Nexans’ strategy is founded on continuous innovation in products, solutions and services, employee development, customer training and the introduction of safe, low-environmental-impact industrial processes.
In 2013, Nexans became the first cable player to create a Foundation to introduce sustained initiatives for access to energy for disadvantaged communities worldwide.
