Nexans to showcase its MVDC expertise at Enlit Europe 2026
Nov 5, 2026
Meet Nexans at Enlit Europe 2026, taking place from 10 to 12 November in Vienna, Austria. As part of the Current/OS stand (Booth Ae40), Nexans will present its expertise in Medium Voltage Direct Current (MVDC) systems and their role in building more efficient, controllable and resilient power architectures.
Learn more about this:
A complementary backbone for electrification
The energy transition is reshaping power systems. Renewable generation is becoming increasingly distributed, energy storage is expanding, and a growing number of applications – from industrial equipment to data centres – operate naturally on direct current.
While AC infrastructure remains essential, MVDC can provide a complementary solution for applications where long distances, distributed assets and DC-native generation, storage or loads create new requirements. By reducing unnecessary conversion stages, MVDC can help improve power-transfer capability, limit losses and enable more precise control of energy flows.
At Enlit Europe, Nexans will share its approach to engineering reliable MVDC cable systems – covering dedicated cable design, accessories, qualification, testing and digital monitoring.
Learn more about this:
From research to real-world validation
Nexans’ MVDC work connects materials science, complete-system qualification, field demonstration and predictive monitoring. The Group has developed and qualified a 10 kV MVDC cable system through a dedicated DC test programme, including load cycles, impulse testing and type-test activities.
Nexans is also involved in OPHELIA, a full-scale MVDC demonstrator in Caderousse, France. The project features a 1 MWp linear photovoltaic installation, a ±5 kV MVDC distribution architecture and one kilometre of solar canopies. It brings together AC/DC and DC/DC conversion, MVDC switchgear, cable systems, advanced control and monitoring to generate valuable operational experience for future long, linear energy infrastructures.
Through this work, Nexans aims to accelerate the safe and reliable adoption of MVDC, strengthen qualification knowledge for cables and accessories, and contribute to the development of future standards and recommendations.
